Hello friends!
Ollie and Oscar have spent most of the winter napping… but now that the sun is coming out and New York City is waking up, so are we!
Today we have some new releases that are lovely and thought-provoking, and also silly and fun. They are all books we think your children will love, and will keep your little ones amused at home – or, now that it is getting warmer, on an outdoor adventure!
Home by Carson Ellis
Home can mean different things for everyone. This book explores the many possibilities of the word and idea, visiting apartments and oceans and even shoes. We uncover new spaces and corners of the world and begin to understand what the word truly means – not simply a place where you live, but a place where you truly belong. It is written simply, but illustrated beautifully to convey each home and its inhabitants with true vibrancy.
I Don’t Want to Be a Frog! by Dev Petty and Mike Boldt
It is not unusual to have a bad day, or to sometimes wish to be somewhere or someone else. But for this frog, that is everyday. He does not want to be a frog! He does not like feeling slimy, or eating flies. He would much rather be another animal. He visits all of his animals friends and asks if he can be like them. On his journey, however, he learns a valuable lesson: as long as you are true to yourself, you’ll never want to be anyone else.
Monty’s Magnificent Mane by Gemma O’Neill
Monty is a beautiful lion with a mane that is the talk of the town – and the envy of many. He takes pride in the way he looks, and often cares more than he probably should. One day, the meerkats mess up his mane and he slinks away, upset that his hair has been ruined. But then he runs into something far worse… and it’s up to Monty to decide what in life is most important: looks or friendship. This tale has a lovely message that kids will remember for years to come.
We hope you enjoy our recommendations! What are your kids currently reading? We’d love to hear your picks this month!
